University The Georgia System Board of Regents approved the USG Health Care Plan and premiums for 2025 for active employees and retirees under age 65, including University of Georgia employees.
The board also approved funding for health reimbursement accounts for retirees age 65 and older.
USG continues to experience increasing costs in the health care market, including inflation and rising prescription drug costs, which impact USG health care plans. All plans will undergo design changes and premium increases, so any cost increases in 2025 will be shared between employees and employers.
Here’s what was approved by the board for 2025:

Increases in deductibles, out-of-pocket limits, coinsurance, and/or co-payments across all USG health care plans.

Employees’ monthly premiums will increase by 6.4% to 10.0%, depending on the plan and coverage.

The wellness program will continue, offering incentives of up to $100 to employees and eligible spouses who complete designated wellness activities through their health care provider (Anthem or Kaiser).

Employees and their spouses who are enrolled in the USG Health Care Plan are offered a weight loss support program through Weight Watchers.

For employees who enroll in a Consumer Choice HSA plan, the university’s contribution to an employee’s health savings account will continue at $375 for employee-only coverage and $750 for family coverage.

Dental fees will increase by 7.7%, but plan designs will remain the same.

Tobacco and working spouse surcharges will continue to be levied at $150 per month. Proof of enrollment is required annually and failure to do so will incur additional fees. The 2025 open enrollment period runs from October 28 to November 8. Selection and certification for 2025 enrollment is OneUSG Connect – Benefits Please apply within the deadline. Notification will be sent to your home by mail prior to the registration period.
Because retirees under age 65 and their dependents under age 65 continue to participate in the same plans as active employees, the 2025 design changes apply to them as well. Medicare-eligible retirees age 65 and older and Medicare-eligible dependents age 65 and older will continue to purchase supplemental health insurance through Alight Retiree Health Solutions.
The Medicare enrollment period runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, with coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2025. This year, the Board approved USG HRA annual contributions of $2,640 per year for each Medicare-eligible retiree age 65 or older and each Medicare-eligible dependent age 65 or older. To receive 2025 USG HRA funds, retirees and/or dependents must enroll in coverage through Alight Retiree Health Solutions.
Retirees are encouraged to review their plan enrollment annually and contact Alight Retiree Health Solutions to evaluate their options for the coming year. This opportunity to review available options occurs during Medicare’s open enrollment period.
